Last week the book’s co-author, Michael Dawson, told Urban Islandz that Princeton University among other tertiary institutions in the United States have stocked the book in their libraries.

In a statement released to Urban Islandz, Vybz Kartel says he is not surprised by the significant achievement.

This is what Vybz Kartel said:

I AM NOT SURPRISED THAT THE BOOK HAS MADE IT TO THESE PRESTIGIOUS ESTABLISHMENTS OF HIGHER LEARNING. I IN FACT TOLD MICHAEL THAT IT WOULD GRACE THE SHELVES OF “FARIN” SCHOOLS LONG BEFORE JAMAICA’S EDUCATION SYSTEM EVEN LOOKED AT IT.

SUFFICE TO SAY THE UPPER ECHELONS OF JAMAICAN SOCIETY DISREGARDED THE BOOK EVEN BEFORE READING IT, INDICATIVE OF THE SUBJECTIVE STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS THAT EXISTS WITHIN OUR SHORES. COMPARATIVELY THOUGH, ONE ALSO HAS TO REMEMBER THAT MARCUS GARVEY, ONE OF THE GREATEST INTELLECTUAL MINDS OF THE 20th CENTURY HAD GARNERED IMMENSE RESPECT AND POWER ABROAD YEARS BEFORE HE WAS EVEN “LOOKED AT” IN JAMAICA AND I UNDOUBTEDLY THINK THAT I AM NO DIFFERENT IN THIS ASPECT. HOWEVER THE BOOK IS NOW IN THE POSSESSION OF TRUE INTELLECTUALS WHO APPRECIATE WHAT MICHAEL AND I HAVE DONE TO SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE REAL ISSUES AFFECTING POST COLONIAL JAMAICA.

FINALLY I HAVE TO SAY “RESPECT” TO THE (very) FEW JAMAICAN SUPPORTERS OF “THE VOICE” NOTABLY PROFESSOR CAROLYN COOPER AND PROFESSOR LOUIS MOYSTON, ALSO TO MY COMMON LAW WIFE TANESHA “SHORTY” JOHNSON FOR HER WELL NEEDED SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT. THANK YOU.

P.S. the preceding statement was Adidja Palmer. Now the controversial Vybz Kartel would like to add that ” If a fassy nuh like mi….”
