Vybz Kartel Trial Day 7: Defense To Ask Court To Drop Case

Vybz Kartel had a huge smile on his face heading to court this morning for the 7th day of his high profile murder trial.

Yesterday the case took a dramatic when the judge rule in favor of the defense by denying the prosecution motion to have a missing witness statement be entered as evidence under section 31(D) of the Evidence Act.

After that ruling the prosecution will offer no further evidence in the case and the judge will instruct the jury to return a verdict of not guilty.

Vybz Kartel attorney will ask the court to drop the case against the dancehall star.

It is very possible a not guilty verdict will be reached today.

Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, along with Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald were charged with the murder of Barrington “Bossie” Burton.

According to police report, Burton was shot and killed on July 12, 2011 in Gregory Park, St. Catherine.

Vybz Kartel will remain behind bars even if a not guilty verdict is reached due to another murder charge.

Vybz Kartel will go on trial in November for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. Detectives say they have a mountain of evidence implicating the “Dancehall Herp” deejay in the murder.
