Vybz Kartel Back In Court Today, Juror Shortage Crippling Case

Vybz Kartel is back in court today but a juror shortage is casting a dark clout over the trial.

The highly publicized case saw a delay for a fourth day straight yesterday in the Home Circuit Court.

A total of 20 jurors showed up to court yesterday when a minimum of 54 is required. This angered Justice Bryan Sykes, who criticized the folks who served subpoena for doing a sloppy job.

The court is also looking at another option which is to await the conclusion of another murder trial to free up those jurors to serve in Vybz Kartel case.

Those jurors are not going to be too happy about that.

Vybz Kartel will be going on trial for the murder of Barrington “Bossie” Burton. The dancehall artist was charged along with Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald.

According to official police report, Burton was shot and killed in July of 2011 along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park, St. Catherine while standing with a group of friends.

Vybz Kartel second murder trial for the death of Clive “Lizard” Williams is scheduled for November.
