Lauryn Hill checks herself into a Connecticut federal prison today to begin her 3- months sentence.

The hip-hop legend plead guilty last year to tax evasion charges. According to TMZ, Hill failed to file her tax return on $1.8 million worth of income between 2005 and 2007.

Lauryn Hill, 38, was reported checked into the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury at 11:15 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Lauryn Hill will be released from the minimum security prison in October.

The former Fugee singer recently released a lengthy letter addressing criticism related to her new single “Neurotic Society.”
