Toots Forced To Cancel Tour Due To Injury From Bottle Throwing Incident

It only took one drunken teenage to put an end to Toots and the Maytals tour.

Reggae legend Toots Hibbert was forced to cancel the remainding dates of his North American tour due to injuries her suffered earlier this month during a performance in Virginia.

Toots was hit in the head by a Vodka bottle thrown on stage by a drunk 19-year-old. Police arrested William C. Lewis and charged him with aggravated assault and public intoxication.

The 67-year-old singer received treatment at the VCU Medical Centre for a bloody forehead and laceration and vowed to continue touring.

According to Billboard, Toots and the Maytals spokeswoman, Andrea Davis, says Toots deeply regret his decision to cancel the tour.

The legendary singer will return to Jamaica this week for further treatment for his injuries and rest.

The below tour dates have been cancelled:

May 29 – Rams Head On Stage (Acoustic). Annapolis, MD
May 30 – Ithaca, NY. The State Theater (Acoustic)
May 31 – South Orange, NJ. South Orange Performing Arts Center (Acoustic)
Jun 01 – Norfolk, CT. Infinity Hall (Acoustic)
