Former Murder Inc rapper Ja Rule got a taste of freedom last month, but a previous tax charge kept him locked up.
According to report, an official release date for the rapper is set for July 28th.
Ja Rule was released from a New York prison where he served most of his two-year sentence.
Rule plead guilty to possession of an illegal firearm after an incident dated back 2007. He started serving his sentence in 2011.
Rule also owes the IRS $1.1 million after failing to file his tax return more than $3 million worth of income between the years 2004-2006.
“Many people are looking forward to experiencing his talent again,” Ja Rule lawyer Stacey Richman said.
