Rihanna And Lady Gaga Donates To Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort

Two of the world’s biggest pop stars, Rihanna and Lady Gaga, are using their star power to help with the Hurricane Sandy relief effort.

Rihanna announced this week that she has donated a thousand sleeping bags to the New York Daily News’ Hurricane Sandy relief effort now underway.

Yesterday the “Diamonds” singer also hosted her album listening party “Rihanna & Friends” bash at Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club in New York City. Guests brought plenty relief goods to the event such as cleaning supplies, diapers, and clothing for the hundreds of thousands of people suffering from the devastation the storm left behind.

Rihanna has also donated $100,000 to the Food Bank for New York City.

“It’s really difficult to see something so tragic going on and not be able to do anything about it,” Rihanna told Andy Cohen during a Facebook interview this week. “There’s nothing you can control, it’s Mother Nature. It’s really sad what happened here.”

Earlier this week, Lady Gaga has also announced that she is donating $1 million to the American Red Cross to help with Hurricane Sandy relief effort.

Gaga broke the news via her website.

Today I pledge 1 million dollars to New York & The American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy Relief. If it wasn’t for NYC: the Lower Eastside, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn, I would not be the woman or artist that I am today. New York is relentless ambition, a drive to succeed, a place where there is a natural pursuit of diversity through compassion. Please accept this gift on behalf of myself, my parents Joe and Cynthia, and my sister Natali; with our deepest gratitude New York for raising us. Thank you for helping me build my spirit. I will now help you rebuild yours. Sincerely, Lady Gaga and The Germanottas.
