Jamaican Olympian Gets Heroes Welcome With A Grand Celebration

After an impressive feat at the 2012 London Olympics, the Jamaican athletes are being given a heroes welcome home.

Jamaica’s Sports Ministry will be hosting a grand celebration for the athletes over the Heroes Weekend Holiday that will climax on Monday October 15.

All 59 athletes plus officials will be honored at a special event, as well as, given monetary prizes for bringing home 12 medals including 4 golds, 4 silvers, and 4 bronze.

There is a planned church service on Sunday at the East Queen Street Baptist Church in Kingston followed by a c**ktail reception for the athletes at Jamaica House.

On Monday fans will poured into the National Arena for a free concert dubbed Jamaica’s Musical History Honouring Our Olympic Journey.

The concert will see performances from the likes of Alaine, Ce’Cile, Konshens, Beenie Man, Christopher Martin, Marcia Griffiths, I-Octane, Leroy Sibbles, Freddy McGregor, and Queen Ifrica.

The concert will be streamed live on TVJ, and on big screens in Half Way Tree and Howard Cook Boulevard in Montego Bay, starting at 7:45 p.m.
