Target Ban Frank Ocean Album “Channel Orange”

Target has refused to carry Frank Oceans debut album Channel Orange in its stores.

The move sparks outrage among Frank Ocean’s fans, as well as, supporters of alternative lifestyle groups.

Frank Ocean, who recently announced that he is gay, released his debut album a week earlier than anticipated on iTunes.

According to reports, the move caused a fallout between the singer and Target. The company claims that the early release of the album on iTunes will affect their sales.

“At Target, we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, so our selection of new releases is dedicated to physical CDs rather than titles that are released digitally in advance of the street date,” Target told Billboard in a statement.

Frank Ocean is currently enjoying a surge in popularity since coming out the closet. The Odd Future singer has garnered support from the likes of Jay-Z, Beyonce and Andre 3000.
