Beenie Man interview

Dancehall veteran Beenie Man has confirmed that he is officially divorced from his ex-wife D’Angel.

D’Angel, whose name is Michelle Downer, files for divorce from Beenie Man last year, citing irreconcilable differences. Beenie and D’Angel, who shares a son together, had a long history of a rocky marriage.

“I could get married to another girl tomorrow morning,” Beenie Man told Winford Williams of On Stage.

When asked about the infamous beating in Negril late last year from arch rival Bounty Killer, Beenie Man said that wasn’t a clash.

“No whipping, no man cyan whip me,” Beenie said. “No man no kill no man, thou shall not kill. That’s not a clash, a foolishness that man, because Bounty Killer did need that and I gave it to him.”

Beenie Man said he was not looking for an old clash, but a new one where he would bring back Bounty Killer into dancehall.

“Di clash weh me want is the new clash, is not the old clash like ‘Hey bwoy stop live down inna di past,’ it’s the new clash where we start to bring back Bounty Killer in the dancehall, because he was living off a him buss diss and a him buss dat, but it’s not a Busta Rhymes thing,” Beenie Man said.

Beenie Man also said he is working on getting dancehall back in the mainstream.
