Tyrone Blake of the Merritone is dead at age 69. The legendary brother of Merritone Music died last week along Kensington Crescent, St Andrew.
Tyrone Blake along with his three brothers, Trevor, Winston, and Monty Blake formed the Merritones, Jamaica oldest active sound system.
Merritone celebrated its 61st anniversary last October.
Monty Blake said Tyrone passed away in the company of himself and Winston, shortly after speaking to Trevor on the telephone. Monty said early indications are that an aneurysm could have been the immediate cause of death.
“It is a shock. It nuh reach mi yet. I have a delayed reaction,” Monty Blake said.
