Embattled dancehall star Vybz Kartel was remanded into custody yesterday when he appeared in the Home Circuit Court on murder charges yesterday (Feb 18).
Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is facing a high profile trial for the alleged murder of fellow gang member Clive “Lizard” Williams.
Vybz Kartel legal team headed by Christian Tavares-Finson, made another attempt at bail, which was denied.
Kartel along with protege Shawn “Storm” Campbell, stylist Calvin “Moonie” Haye, Cayro Jones and two others are charged with the murder of Williams.
All the accused men were remanded into custody until March 16.
Allegations are that on August 16, last year, Williams was taken to a house in Havendale, St Andrew, believed to be belonging to Vybz Kartel, where he was severely beaten and stabbed to death over a missing firearm.
His body has not been found.
However, police officers said they are in possession of video evidence of the alleged incident.
Vybz Kartel is also facing another murder charge in relation to the murder promoter/businessman Barrington “Bossie” Burton in Gregory Park, St. Catherine last summer.
If convicted he could face a life sentence.
