Embattled dancehall star Elephant Man was yesterday release on a $400,000 bond when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.

Ele, whose real name is Oniel Bryan, is charged with rape and sexual assault.

According to reports, Elephant Man allegedly sexually assaulted a 31-year-old woman at his Hillcrest Avenue home in St. Andrew earlier this month.

The “Sweep Dem Weh” deejay was taken into custody on Monday and was later slapped with charges of grievous sexual assault and rape.

Elephant Man flatly denied the allegations yesterday during an interview with a TVJ reporter.

“Wi a mek the fans them know seh nothing like that and Elephant would never let down the fans them like that yo understand, si wi out and wi just a seh give thanks and praise to the almighty god and wi a mek the fans them know seh energy god naan let unnu down yo mad man,” Elephant Man said in Jamaican patois.

Investigators said a woman filed a police report claiming that Elephant Man sexually assaulted and raped her at his home. Detectives assigned to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse conducted investigations, which led to the deejay being arrested and charged.

He will reappear in court for a preliminary hearing on May 21.
