Is Mavado the next Shaggy and Sean Paul of dancehall?
The ace dancehall star announced yesterday in New York that he is now signed to DJ Khaled label We The Best Music Group.
Mavado and Khaled broke the news during an interview with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez.
“That’s right, New York City! Mavado is officially signed to We The Best Music Group,” The Miami rapper said on the phone. “Mavado’s part of the family, part of the brand. It’s about to be an expansion to the movement. It’s going to be a movie, you feel me? I’m really excited about this because my roots and where I come from, I’ve known Mavado since before he was Mavado. Mavado always puts great music out, and I just want to add more to it, add some steroids to it.”
Khaled said Mavado represents the streets and that’s what he love about the singjay.

A member of the Gullyside camp told Urban Islandz that the camp and Mavado is excited about the deal, said to be worth millions.
“Gullyside fi life and Mavado the general a go be the biggest thing inna dancehall,” the Gully artist said. “Look out for the album and Stulla wine in the near future.”
