Controversial pop star Lady Gaga new single “Judas” has drawn the ire of the Catholic community over the songs lyrics.
In the song “Judas” which was leaked online earlier this week, Gaga proclaims she is “in love with Judas.”
Judas, includes lyrics such as: “I want to love you/but something’s pulling me away from you/Jesus is my virtue, and Judas is the demon I cling to/ I’m just a holy fool/ oh baby he’s so cruel/ but I’m still in love with Judas, baby.”
The lyrics about the apostle who betrayed Jesus have already angered the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights.
“This is a stunt. People have real talent, and then there is Lady Gaga,” Catholic League President Bill Donohue told HollywoodLife.
“Lady Gaga tries to continue to shock Catholics and Christians in general: she dresses as a nun … she swallows the rosary. She has now morphed into a caricature of herself.”
“She is trying to rip off Christian idolatry to shore up her talentless, mundane and boring performances. Maybe if she had more talent we’d be more offended. She has gone to the well too many times,” he scoffed about the Grammy-winner.
According to reports, Lady Gaga was raised in the Catholic faith and even attended Manhattan’s Convent of the Sacred Heart as a teen.
Lady Gaga’s creative director, Laurieann Gibson, told The Hollywood Reporter she came close to walking away from co-directing the music video, however made sure the final product would not offend others.
“It went through several changes and late-night debates because at one point, there were two completely different views and I was like, ‘Listen, I don’t want lightning to strike me! I believe in the gospel and I’m not going there,'” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
“And it was amazing because to have that conversation about salvation, peace and the search for the truth in a room of non-believers and believers, to me, that was saying God is active in a big way. And the place that it came to is surreal.”
“We don’t touch on things that we have no right touching upon, but the inspiration and the soul and idea that out of your oppression, your darkness, your Judas, you can come into the marvelous light. So it’s about the inspiration and to never give up … We’ve created a new Jerusalem.”
In the buzzed-about song, and forthcoming music video, Gaga portrays Mary Magdalene and actor Norman Reedus stars as Judas.
I liked her a lot more before now…i still like her but now she is “out there” deliberately dragging her fans to hell? Not really?. Everyone knows right from wrong and the choices we make in this life will determine our final destination. The Devil has many ways of stealing our salvation–a lot of times it is through music. Judge not(hypocritically) unless we be judged. I do not write this in a hateful way but at least she is letting the world know which master she serves? In her world there is no judgment? Just free will? That is the message I get from her music. There is no repentance beyond the grave. In Gaga’s world, there is fame and fortune and fans. No God. No salvation. Just boundless joy and freedom. Many are called but few are chosen. Many of us who perhaps hate her, or dislike her, or judge her, or condemn her and her music shouldn’t see themselves as “lucky” cause as such, we are the same ones who will be right there with her in the end burning with the beast? Mmmm? 666. You may have this mark already imprinted on your very soul but you are too blind to see it because you are Gaga deep into the guilty pleasures of this life that only feeds the flesh. There is/was a Judas in all of us? We were not Born This Way. We made the choice. For those of us who are perhaps about to crucify Gaga for her Judas lyrics, there are many other undercover celebrities in the music world out there who are conscious but are unconsciously demonically gaining souls of fans or should I say loosing souls of fans to Lucifer’s Kingdom. They are called the Freemasons. There is so much to know and learn in these last days. Some people are just too blind to see. And as such are the lukewarm Christians! I thought that we were suppose to be on fire for God in these last days instead of looking out of the shadows and conforming to this world.
