Media Personality ‘Bagga’ Brown Is Dead At 60

Popular Jamaican media personality Basil ‘Bagga’ Brown died over the weekend after a long battle with cancer.

Brown, who host popular vox pop feature ‘Weh Yuh Seh’ on TVJ, died 6:00 AM Saturday at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) at age 60 years old.

Brown untimely death sends shock wave throughout the Caribbean entertainment media community.

General manager at TVJ, Kay Osbourne said Bagga “consistently imbued his work with ideas about nation-building and about serving his God.”

“He felt that media had a special obligation to serve the people and the best interests of the country. He felt that the best way he could contribute to these ideals were through the values he imbued in his programme,” she added.

According to reports, Bagga was diagnosed with throat cancer some three years ago, where he did surgery in Miami. However, the cancer returned and spread to his bone.

A week ago his health deteriorated drastically and was rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies, where he succumb to his illness Saturday.
