Nicki Minaj: “I WANT TO TAKE TRINI CULTURE TO THE WORLD”

Trinidad native Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj converge on her homeland last weekend shining like a true star.

Minaj arrived with her entourage last Friday afternoon to a legion of fans in her homeland. One Urban Islandz fan from Trinidad told us Nicki Minaj is like a local hero in Trinidad.

“Everyone in Trinidad loves and adores Nicki, she is like a hero here and we are extremely proud of her accomplishments,” the fan told us.

While in Trinidad Nicki Minaj took time to reunite with families she hasn’t seen in many years, she took them shopping with the press and paparazzi following her every move.

Minaj whose real name is Onika Maraj told journalists during a press conference on Saturday that she want to take Trinidad culture to the world.

“I want to eventually bring Trinidadian music and culture to the world. If any of you have anything you want me to promote get it to me. What I know about Trinidadian culture and fashion is Carnival. I have never been to a Trinidadian Carnival but I know it is better than the rest.”

Nicki Minaj said she also want to work with some local artists in the future like Machel Montano and Destra.

“I wanted a song that had a Trini sounding sound so I went and googled Machel Montano’s “Congo Man” and I wanted it to be like that but we were not able to get it done. We will get it though, that was a start.”
