Trinidad-American Rapper Nicki Minaj Cops Two BET Awards
Trinidad descent American rapper Nicki Minaj scored big at the 10th annual BET Awards held on June 27. The Young Money rapper won the award for Best New Artist and Best Female Hip Hop Artist. Minaj also jointly won for Best Group, for her part in the Lil Wayne spearheaded Young Money.
Accepting her first major award, Minaj, who has collaborated with Usher, Mariah Carey, Ludacris, Sean Garrett, and Diddy within the last year, honored those who came before her, stating: `I just think it`s so important right now for positive energy among women because I`m fighting for women. This is not for me, this is for all of us, so thank you to all the female rappers who paved the way for me.
